Software proves the method on hardware that already exists. iPMM is the same method cast into the controller that governs the rail, where nothing has to be inferred through a layer of software.
The problem in the rail
Voltage regulation has always been an apology for what already happened.
A regulator measures an average, notices it has drifted, and corrects. Every correction is late by definition, so margin is designed in to absorb the lateness. That margin is heat, cost and a ceiling on how hard the part is allowed to work.
iPMM is designed to remove the lateness rather than the margin, because it sits inside the loop rather than behind it.
